Application Guidelines

HOW TO APPLY
  • Select one of your best short stories (between 2,000--5,000 words) in English. We like all kinds of stories, so be brave.

  • Include a bio note: tell us something about yourself. Why are you applying? What do you hope to learn? Where are you as a writer?

  • Attach the story and note to the mail form and click submit OR send it to contact@dumpukht.org before the deadline (to be announced).

Please don't send us web links. The attached story should be a .doc/.docx/.rtf or a .pdf file. Once we receive the application, you will receive an acknowledgement.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
  • The workshop is not intended for hobby writers. The idea is to prepare you to write for an audience, not just to express yourself.
  • This is a residential workshop and not a residency. Active participation is mandatory.
  • You need not have been published but we are looking for writers with some body of work.
  • Fluency in English is essential. That said, we welcome multi-lingual writers who may ultimately decide to work in other languages.
COST
  • The cost is Rs. 30,000 to attend the workshop. This works out to under Rs. 2,200 per day. This covers lodging and food at Adishakti for fourteen nights plus wireless internet plus instructional materials. The rooms are double occupancy but not mixed gender. The food is locally-sourced and organic. The cost includes breakfast, lunch and dinner (and of course, your roomie's snacks). Payment will be made directly to Adishakti Laboratory For Theatre Arts & Research, and is tax-deductible.
